For A Better Africa or FABA was started by a group of University of Mississippi Alumni of African and Caribbean descent. As international students in a foreign country, the number of scholarship opportunities available to international students were quite limited. These group of friends and collaborators decided to get together and do something about it.
FABA initiative began with providing funding opportunities for international students at the University of Mississippi. We have since expanded and currently support scholarship opportunities for Ole Miss undergraduate and graduate students and elementary and high school students in Africa. We are an IRS registered and compliant 501c3 tax exempt organization with EIN: 88-1549847
Our goal is to expand beyond University of Mississippi and Africa. More importantly, create a virtuous cycle where current students are motivated and pay it forward to the next generation
Our mission is to foster unity, collaboration and establish a culture of giving back within minority communities and to lead by example
Foster educational excellence in the United States and Africa by providing scholarship opportunities to people with limited opportunities
In addiction, create a sustainable effort at giving back to minority communities through education and grassroots efforts in support of our mission
